6th Stage - On our way to the top

Germany´s Highest Summit

17 October 2008
Now, even Germany’s tallest peak lies behind us. At 1pm on Thursday, 2922 metres up, on top of Zugspitze, we unfurled our banner.
In complete darkness, our team gets underway at the crack of dawn. The ground beneath our feet has become slippery due to the constant drizzle; though the higher we go, the more the rain relents. It remains hazy, however – wafts of mist cover the hillsides. At 1pm, we get there, after eight hours of climbing – we reach the summit. The descent is, by comparison, child’s play.

We are particularly chuffed to meet up with some old colleagues – a few KYOCERA employees, who we already had the pleasure of meeting last year, have also travelled to Zugspitze in Garmisch-Partenkirchen today. Our farewell to them and to our successful day is celebrated together with a typical Bavarian isotonic drink. It’s called “ Hefeweizen ” in these parts!
