17th stage – KYOCERA South Africa is there at the final peak

And finally…

28 November 2008
We’re nearly there: the last decampment towards a mountain-climb on our long journey from cape2cape: At 7am prompt, we are ready to take on the final stage of our cape2cape tour. We are particularly chuffed that we are not alone: employees from KYOCERA South Africa want to support us at this final summit.
Although Oneida van Wyk, Paul Wendlant, Ismail Welloy Schuster and Vincent Lombard from KYOCERA more than motivated to have a crack at the 3,446 metre Mafadi peak, it is unfortunately not to be realised. A large-scale ascent of the mountain is sadly not on the cards: the weather is so poor, that the colleagues from KYOCERA with heavy backpacks don’t have a chance to pull through without an overnight stay. In this respect, we hope that they can have a go next time.

However, the final challenge is completed and the South African banner with the unknown number of identified cases of HIV and AIDS illnesses in the country (6.1 million) is unfurled.
